Jan Groover - Kitchen Still
Jan Groover (American, 1943 – 2011) was among the very best still life photographers since the medium’s invention.
We responded by taking our own pictures:
I think this was a successful response as I was to capture the running water without a blurred effect, and a nice focused lighting against the cutlery. Also, I was able to have a main central focus and outer blur, however the dishes could've been in a more unorganised, similar to Jan Groover.
Laura Letinsky
Laura L. Letinsky is a Canadian photographer. Born in Winnipeg, Letinsky is known for her still life photographs. For example, this area of her work focuses on a dull plain mess against an empty space.
Our Response:
In comparison to Letinsky's work, I think I added a more personal twist to it, but still maintaining the original still life effect, especially in the top left photo which is most similar.
Letinsky has a tendency to organise the subject to the image towards edges, which is what had an impact on my response.

Andre Kertesz
“I write with light,” Andra Kertesz once said of his work. In one of the medium’s longest, most productive careers, Kertesz created a vast, lyrical narrative that helped shape the history of photograph
what I will try to achieve is his good subject composition ,ability to direct the focus of his image and his ratio and light and darkness. |
I think each of these three photos were taken really well, the given angles in the image create satisfying shadows from the spot light above the forks
I can't think of any significant negative points except perhaps to photograph the forks from a wider and futher position.

In my opinion, the middle two images are most successful as they are well focused and a nice blurred background, what could've made the photos better would be to add a noir filter.
Ed Ruscha
To the right, are “seven products” that appeared in Ed Ruscha’s book of photographs, entitled Seven Products, Twentyfive Apartments, Three Palm Trees, Six Rooftops and One Aerial View. The images are of everyday objects found in a normal household in the 1950’s. The images are taken at the same angle and viewpoint and are always taken on a plain white background |
Suzanne Saroff
In her ongoing series titled Perspective, photographer Suzanne Saroff creates fractured and skewed images of common foods as seen through vessels filled with water and glass objects.
Below are a few pieces of her work:

EBI- A wider view of fruit, clear untextured glasses , varied heights to show distortion, better lighting

Second Response:
I think the coloured lighting was an excellent addition to add to the response to add a fancy pop of colour, then I also believe the spherical bottles give a smart distortion against the different vegetable.
What could've been improved is to move the glass bottles closer together and take the images from a wider perspective to expand the 'fractured and skewered' outcome

By using gifmaker.me, I was able to combine these photos into my own animation-
The lighting could have matched more throughout to make the GIF more smooth, as well as that to improve the steadiness, I could have also maintained the apple in the same spot with possibly a marker instead of using a rough ideas. Other than that, the general attempt for a continuous sequence was achieved.
Lauren Marek
A young photographer currently based between Houston & Austin.
Examples of her work shown below;
Lauren Marek in her series "Pieces" create's similar work but her work focuses even closer to the person and creates an even more abstract representation of the figure. Inspired by Picasso and his cubism portraits she uses 9 images alongside each other to create her abstract representations of a person.

In these chosen set of images I think the lighting works well and emphasises the little details more , although maybe I could have explored some more interesting angles. Certain pictures could have been better if the focus co-operated more but over all fits in the grid
Jesse Draxler is a contemporary artist and photographer who works in many different mediums his brooding style combines collaged photography and painting. Draxler distorts and overlap the models’ bodies to form abstract, creature-like beings. His work is always in grey scale as he feels color can be a distraction.
Not my best work, a rough attempt to follow to outlined silhouette to personalise Draxler's through Photoshop instead of a paper collage which probably would have turned out more smooth compared to the rough lines where the features change. A positive to this, might be the obvious switch in features and merge of faces which almost line up.

My Response
What went well in this reponse was (in my opinion), the oragnisation of the objects and especially the addition of the reflection in the lamp, I also think I managed to not over crowd the image.
What I could have done better might have been the position of the book into the centre and a clear whiter background

Alberto Seveso
Illustrator & Digital Photographer Alberto Seveso was born in Milan, he grow up in Sardinia but is now working and living in Bristol (UK) as a freelancer.
He takes different variations of inks, paints of dyes and adds them into another substance (e.g. water or oil), and captures the moment before it mixed and diffuses completely into said water.

My response
My method of creating these series of images was by, using a fast shutter speed to imitate still ink, pour a couple drops of coloured ink into a jug of clear water and capture the beginning moments in a continuous shot.
The bright ink worked well as you able to see finer details, especially with the (not shown) light above to help lens capture the light with fast shutter speed.

Hockney has shown different view points, with his technique 'joiners', of his mother.

By using 'joiners', Hockney can show a wider angle of the presented scene in amore detailed way. The composition of the picture leads to viewer to the centre of the image.

David Hockney creates intricate photo collages that he called “joiners”. He does this by taking his earlier collages consisted of grid-like compositions made up of polaroid photographs, of diverse perspectives of his subject. He wanted us to consider Picasso's cubist ideology through his own work and creativity.
I think the effect of the photojoiners would have been more successful if I could have done it by hand, however using photoshop i was able to expand my knowlegde of the software. I interactively merged (not blended) the images of different viewpoints from the same spot and quicly organised any out of space photos to make the final design.
What I could have improved in these responses was most likely to include even more perspectives to empasise the photojoiner effect
